RIM Becomes Touchy With BlackBerry 10

Bangalore: Research In Motion (RIM) unveiled its vision for the BlackBerry 10 platform at the BlackBerry World conference in Orlando, Florida and released the initial developer toolkit for native and HTML5 software development.



RIM formally introduced the prototype handset based on BlackBerry 10 OS. The showcased handset is just a prototype which the company expects to launch later this year. According to a report from a tech website Engadget, the specification of this handset has been revealed at the event.



The prototype of BlackBerry 10 OS handset features 4.2 inch with 1280x768 pixels of resolution, 1 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot for storage, for connectivity it has mini HDMI port. There are no details about the processor and screen type. It seems with the launch of BlackBerry 10 OS, it has stepped in to the game of increased competition with Apple and Android with full touchscreen smartphones.



The company has also released a promotional video, which shows how the final version will appear. Looking at the video it seems like the phone is highly gesture based and the company has worked lot on virtual keyboard for easy and quick typing.
