Battle Of Chipsets: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Vs Huawei Kirin 950

BENGALURU: Qualcomm has entered into 64-bit computing with launch of its two new chipsets in Snapdragon series: 808 and 810. Huawei has also launched a 64-bit chipset for Smartphone but which one is better? We look at few points to highlight the strengths of each chipset, as compiled by Gizbot.





CPU, GPU, and DSP



Qualcomm’s Snapdragon and Huawei’s kirin, both feature 64-bit computing architecture. However, Kirin 950 is an octa-core processor, which comes in combination of 4 cores plus 4 cores. Snapdragon, on the other hand, features quad-core processor. Kirin comes with Mali T860 GPU chipset for gaming, whereas, Snapdragon comes with Adreno 430 GPU. Kirin makes use of Tensilica HiFi 4 DSP and Qualcomm uses Hexagon V56 DSP.



Display



Kirin comes with ARM architecture. The ARM Cortex A72, which comes with Kirin, enables the user to play high definition videos such as 4K. While Kirin can play 4K videos at 120FPS, Qualcomm Snapdragon can also do the same and record 4K videos as well.



Camera and Modem



Huawei’s Kirin supports camera resolution till 42-megapixel and co-features Intel i7 processor. However, Qualcomm Snapdragon can support camera resolution up to 55-megapixel. Kirin supports LTE of speeds up to category 10, however, Snapdragon supports LTE speeds of up to category 9, which is about 450mbps.



Connectivity Options & External Component Interfaces



Qualcomm Snapdragon offers VIVE 2-stream Wifi, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, eMMC 5.0 SD 3.0 , UFS Gear2 2L, BT 4.1 and NFC. Kirin offers UFS 2.0, eMMC 5.1, SD 4.1, WiFi, BT 4.2 smart, USB 3.0 and NFC.
