Jog Falls (Karnataka)

With a height of 253m, Jog Falls is the pride of Karnataka. It is the second highest waterfall in India and is located at Shimoga. However, the falls are also known as Gersoppa falls and Jogada Gundi by the locals. In Kannada, Joga means falls and the beauty can be enjoyed from the walking platform that offers a holistic view of the falls.

Jog Falls is created from the Sharavathi River and has a width of 290m. It has four cascades, namely Raja, Rani, Rocket and Rover. In order to have a proper view of this amazing display, the Tourism Department has built 1400 steps from the viewpoint to the bottom of the hill where the waterfall can be seen at the opposite side.
