Recently in the 32nd annual convention of the American Association of Physicians of Indian origin (AAPI) held in San Antonio, health minister addressed the delegates. The world’s largest universal insurance program is moderately inspired ‘Obamacare’, Obama’s grand insurance-for-all project. Health minister asked AAPI members to contribute by shearing their knowledge, working on teaching assignments, lending their expertise in fighting disease and helping in developing the primary health centers, reports ET.



The health minister also spoke about ‘Swasth India’ program that ensures access to affordable and quality health for low-income people by 2018. Swasth India is a way for Indian American doctors to serve in the area of their choice in India. The doctors have to chose their area, inform the government and take formal approval from Medical Council of India (MCI) within 15 days.



Audience appreciated the 2020: Vision for Healthcare in India. Health minister told about the PM that he is committed to serve every mother and child, every Indian young and old. He will improve the condition of medical sector by bringing free and clean hospitals, generic medicines, rational drug policy, healthy life style and sufficient doctors.
