Bangalore: Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s longest serving prime minister in the 20th century, passed away last week after suffering from a massive stroke. From a common grocer’s daughter to the helm of British politics, Thatcher walked through paths that no one even dared to think of.

‘A real leader’- this is what Thatcher was all about. It’s a kind of disturbing that Thatcher was loved and at the same time, hated within and outside Britain. Loved, adored, reviled, admired, hated, awesome, loathsome, fearless, reckless, self sacrificing, self centered- conflicts and contrasts will go on. Whatever be the mind-set of people, it is crystal clear that Thatcher was well-defined according to her views and her straight forward economics.

Nonetheless, whatever be the definitions given, Thatcher was primarily praised for her decisions and beliefs; a belief that later on was certified as the answer to Britain’s economic problems.

So it’s time that we give tribute to one of the strongest and decisive idols of the 20th century. With that said, here are 5 important leadership lessons from ‘The Iron Lady’ herself.
