The annual celebration of ‘all things merin’ swims in the heart of North Carolina. Mermaids and mermen across the country make their way to the triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, North Carolina where they learn the art of mermaiding for performances, photography, entertainment, and other purposes. This festival also summons high-spirited bandits and pirates.

The festival is traditionally for the locals of Brockworth, however over time the celebration is joined by a fleet of people across the world where it is held on the Spring Bank Holiday at Cooper’s Hill near Gloucester in the Cotswolds region of England.
The event begins with the first round of Double Gloucester cheese rolled down from the top of the hill while daring competitor’s race down after it. The first person to cross the finish line at the bottom of the hill takes home the wheel of cheese as the prize.
