There is another class of cities like Pune, Nagpur, Ahemedabad, Gwalior, Lucknow etc. where the number of borrowers of low value home loans i.e. below Rs.10 lakh has declined to 43 percent in 2011, compared to 69 percent in 2007. In these cities, medium value home loans of Rs.10-20 lakh contribute the maximum share of home loan sector which is around 32 percent.

Much smaller cities also replicate the same trend where low ticket sized loans have shrunk to 58 percent in 2011, from 80 percent in 2007.  But loans in these cities of Rs.50 lakh couldn’t grab much space in the total home loans provided and made only 2 percent in it. These cities rather made loans of Rs.5-10 lakh, Rs.10 lakh and Rs.20 lakh, which contributed 30 percent, 28 percent, and 27 percent of the total share respectively.
