So when Australian born actor, Mel Gibson decided that he wanted to holiday away from the public he decided to buy himself an island. In 2005 he bought tropical Mago Island. Reportedly he paid around $15 million to buy the island. Mago Island is among the largest islands in the Pacific.

When he bought the island, all the environmentalists were worried that he might destroy the ecological balance of the island by building a resort. But they didn’t have to worry for long because after buying it Gibson said that he wouldn’t touch the island. He would just build a holiday home.
