Hindustan Zinc Joins Rs.1-Lakh Crore M-Cap Club; Stock Hits Record High

NEW DELHI: Hindustan Zinc’s market valuation today crossed record Rs.1 lakh crore mark today, helped by a sharp rally in its stock price.



The market capitalisation (m-cap) of the Vedanta Group firm rose to Rs.1,07,640 crore.



The stock jumped 9.22 pct to settle at Rs.254.75 on BSE. During the day, it zoomed 12.66 pct to Rs.262.80 – its 52-week high.



At NSE, shares of the company surged 9 pct to end at Rs.254.45.



On the volume front, 6.48 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 70 lakh shares changed hands at NSE during the day.



The stock has gained in seven of eight trading sessions, surging nearly 16 pct. So far this year, the stock has gained nearly 74 pct.



TCS is the most valued Indian company with a market capitalisation of Rs.4,75,227.81 crore, followed by RIL (Rs.3,53,628.14 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs.3,27,584.87 crore), ITC (Rs.2,92,947.29 crore) and Infosys (Rs.2,38,388.40 crore).



There are at least 25 companies with over Rs.1 lakh crore market valuation.



In the broader market, the Sensex today jumped over 377 points — its biggest single-day gain in about a month — to end at 28,243.29.
