Indore, Population - 21.95 lakh



Existing infrastructure: SEZ, Food Park, Apparel Park, ICD Indore-Edelabad Road and Indore-Ujjain Road. Slum development by the UK Department for International Development, PPP infrastructure projects and dry port spread over 17 acre among others.



Proposed and ongoing projects: Three-corridor metro rail, Indore-Ichhapur Road (SH-27), Indore-Ahmedabad Road (NH-59). Namkeen cluster for infrastructure development work in Bijapur, Rudhibhavsinghpura Industrial Area in Ujjaini Industrial Area, Khandwa, etc.



Chandigarh, Population - 10.7 lakh



Existing infrastructure: Sports complex and grounds, corridor streets for fast and easy-moving vehicular traffic, well-planned water supply distribution and underground network of pipes and 1,400-km city road network.



Proposed and ongoing projects: International airport at Mohali to city airport, New Chandigarh counter magnet city with townships from Omaxe, Innovative Housing & Infrastructure Ltd and DLF, Entrepreneur Development Centre, proposed Film City, etc.



Gurgaon, Population - 15.1 lakh



Existing infrastructure: NH-8 accessibility by linking road from Delhi-Jaipur Express, Maruti Suzuki plant, drug warehouses, and a huge IT ITES hub.



Proposed and ongoing projects: Six-lane NH-8 between Gurgaon and Jaipur, Gurgaon-Delhi Corridor; to be developed as a solar city; buildings over 500 sq yard to install rooftop solar power syst - ems by September 2015, software technology park, etc.



Rajkot, Population - 18 lakh

Proposed and ongoing projects: Elevated bus system with assistance from Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board, Roads at various villages under Suvidha Path. Strengthening of solid waste management (Phase I), sewerage system Phase II (Part II for Rajkot City), underground drainage for Phase II and III (Part I under Sewage Disposal Network and STP), and augmentation of water supply for the city under JNNURM.
